Founded and administered by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, St. Catherine's is a private, Catholic boys academy located in beautiful Southern California just minutes away from Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, and the beach. Located on a secure 8 acre campus, SCMA is committed to guiding each boy to his fullest potential.
Our military program strives to instill in our cadets, as young as Kindergarten, leadership, honor, courage, commitment, responsibility, compassion, and respect. A SCMA cadet places a high value on personal integrity and adherence to the honor code. The structure and consistency of this program enables our boys to find confidence, success, and self esteem.
Our ESL program provides for the educational and emotional needs of our international students. This program helps each cadet grow in his mastery of the English language while experiencing the culture and diversity within the United States.
As a boys' school, we recognize the importance of a strong mind and a strong body. Our spacious campus includes a football field, an indoor heated pool, and gymnasium as well as award winning sports teams. As a boys' school for more than 100 years, we continually keep on top of educating boys. Our primary and middle classes, Kindergarten to Grade Five, are structured in differentiated courses. Kindergarten is a separate class, then grades 1,2, and 3 are together with their teacher/s and aides and then grades 4 and 5 are together. This structure allow the boys to excel at their rate while giving the teachers the time to advance and challenge them while also assisting students who need more time. This way, we have eliminated the need to retain students.
In our Residency Program, the Dominican Sisters and lay staff who serve as Residential Care Providers give the priceless gift of love and guidance as each cadet grows toward maturity. Our Residential Care Providers live in the dorms, providing security, comfort, and nurturing. The friendships formed at SCMA are life long.
