School Notes Overview: |
The Phelps School is a boarding and day school serving boys in grades seven through postgraduate. We are dedicated to a personalized education for the boy who seeks success academically, personally and socially. This philosophy of dedication to the total development of each boy is accentuated by our structured atmosphere, small classes and daily tutorials. Our first obligation is creating a caring, sensitive climate which emphasizes the positive in every situation. The environment is consistent, supportive and combined with challenge, care and honesty. Phelps is concerned with emphasizing the articulation and inculcation of personal moral values as an important part of our mission -- educating the heart as well as the mind and body.

Located just 22 miles west of Philadelphia on the historic Main Line, our 70-acre campus provides it all. Located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, students have the ability to take day trips to the New Jersey Shore, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington DC and the Pocono Mountains. Our most recent developments (2004-2005) include a re-designed dining hall, new bathrooms and floors in the dorms, and a brand new graphic arts studio. Last year our developments included a new state-of-the-art woodshop, with every tool and piece of machinery one could imagine, a climbing tower and ropes course, the restoration of "The Sunken Garden" (the senior class project), and brand new additional tennis courts.
LD types supported: Our comprehensive Academic Support Program is a solid component of our college-preparatory program. School accreditations: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS), The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), International Boys' School Coalition (IBSC) - Profile last updated: 06/18/2008
