The MacDuffie School is a rigorous college preparatory school for grades 6 – 12 whose mission is to foster in all students the intellectual habits of mind, high ethical standards and respect for diversity required for becoming morally responsible and effective individuals in their personal lives, careers and communities and beyond. There is nothing typical about a MacDuffie student. Each is an individual – not to be molded to fit some kind of norm, but encouraged to be independent, thoughtful and articulate, to understand the value of study and organization, of expression and debate, and to respect each other and the planet on which we live. Ask MacDuffie students what they like most about their school and the answer is the warm atmosphere and friendly relationship between faculty and students. This is a community where we respect and learn from each other. MacDuffie’s urban campus is located on 14 beautiful hilltop acres 25 miles from Hartford, 90 miles from Boston, 150 miles from New York City and a million miles from other prep schools. MacDuffie is a place where we embrace and celebrate differences, where students from all over the world share their cultures with the local day student population, and where all are able to explore their known and yet to be discovered talents in a safe and supportive environment. Our location in the heart of the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts provides ample opportunity to expand the wall of the classroom to the halls of local universities, libraries, museums, mountains, streams and beyond.
